--- Introduction ---
Quick Bridge 95 is a utility to assist
in extracting data from Quicken for Windows
 and inserting that data automatically into
Microsoft Excel or Word. Once the transactions
(accounts) for which data is to be collected
have been specified in Quick Bridge, the
program will extract the data and insert it
automatically into one of the above programs via
OLE. Data can also be pasted from Quick Bridge
to other apps, but with more user intervention.
Note that pasting data in this way does not
facilitate a semi-automatic or automatic method
of updating the data.

This utility will be useful to those who use their
Quicken for Windows data to create budgets and/or
reports. After setting up the accounts and specifying
which application the data is to be inserted into, future
execution of Quick Bridge will load the current balances,
start the external application and update the balances
without further user intervention.


---Installation---
To install Quick Bridge:
    1. Unzip the downloaded file into a temporary directory
        2. From the WIndows 95 Run command, execute "setup.exe"
       the temporary directory.
        3. To run Quick Bridge, double-click its icon from its Windows program group.

***NOTE***

If you receive OLESYSERROR messages when starting Quick Bridge, you may not have
some required OLE support files. Run setup again, select CUSTOM install, and
check both options. The OLE support files will then be installed to your
/Windows/System directory.

---License---
This program is provided as shareware. You may use the
program for a period of thirty days to test its useful-
ness and accuracy. If, after thirty days, you decide to
keep the program, you are obligated to register it.
Register.doc & Register.txt(for those without MS-Word)
are included in the installation directory. Print one and
mail with your check or money order (US funds only) as
instructed in those files.
The program may not be re-engineered, reverse-engineered,
nor modified in any way without the express consent of the
author. You may make copies of the program for distribution
to others provided you do not charge a fee for any purpose
other than to cover the cost of the media and shipping, and
you include ALL of the original files with the copies.

--- System Requirements ---
Quick Bridge 95 requres the Windows 95 operating system.
For automatic importation of data, Microsoft Excel version
5.0 or higher, or Microsoft Word version 2.0 or higher is
required.
Minimum system memory requirements are 8 meg RAM.


---Compatability---
Quick Bridge has been tested with the Excel(v. 7.0a) & Word
versions supplied in Microsoft Office 95 as well as Microsoft
Office 97 (Excel v 8.0). It is possible that other applications
may work with Quick Bridge, but none have been tested.

---Disclaimer---
This program is provided without warranty. Use of this program
is at your own risk. The author makes no statement of warranty
nor gaurantee of affect. The program has been tested extensively
under the Windows 95 environment with the above-mentioned external
applications and has shown no ill effects of its use. However, the
environment in which it was tested will likely not display all
possible conditions by which erroneous results can be returned.
Therefore, the user assumes all responsibility for the use of this
program. It is stongly recommended the user create a backup of all
data files prior to using the program. There is no code contained
within that would normally change any Quicken data files. However,
as stated, the program has not been tested under every possible
condition. Results should be confirmed through an audit of the return
values before relying upon them.


--- Known Problems ---
On some systems, the Office 97 version of Excel does not fully unload itself
from memory. If you have started and ended previous sessions of Excel since
your last reboot, you may encounter errors when Quick Bridge tries to access
Excel. If this happens, hit "Countrol+Alt+Del" to bring up the "Close Program"
dialog. Click on every occurence of Excel in the list, then the END TASK button.
Once all of the Excel sessions have ended, Quick Bridge should be able to access
a new copy of an Excel session.

We have tried not to duplicate files in the distribution pack that might ordinarily
already be on the user's system. Occasionally, there will be a machine that doesn't
have the ordinary files. If you encounter a "DLL not found" error, email me and
I will get the missing file to you (if we have distribution rights).

--- Updates / Changes ---
QuickB.zip    Original Quick Bridge package
QuickB_f.zip    No program changes. Added the common files missing from some users'
        machines, as well as a Quick Bridge DLL that got left out of the
        original setup package.
QuickB1.01    Changes the way Quick Bridge handles the INI file. Some users were
        concerned about the IO error that occurred when Quick Bridge ran
        for the first time. Although a harmless error, it was causing some
        confusion. Also fixes OLE automation errors.
